In 1984, 4 kids, Bryan Holland (Dexter), Kevin Wasserman (Noodle), James Lilja and Gregory Kriesel from Garden Grove, California came together to start a band called Manic Subtidal. They had changed their name in 1986 to what they are now known as, The Offspring. In the last 40 years, The Offspring has had 12 different band members while still being able to tour and perform their songs that everyone knows and loves. The most common songs that The Offspring are known for are, Why don’t you get a job, Pretty fly, The kids aren't alright, along with their first big hit Come out and Play. In 1997, The Offspring received their first award nomination from The Billboard Music Awards which was followed by 16 other winning awards and 28 other nominations.


Places they have been.

After 40 years, The Offspring is still performing with different performances including free shows, festivals such as Lollapalooza and touring around the world. The Offspring was able to reach a younger audience while keeping their music the same by playing festivals such as The Vans Warped Tour, When We Were Younger, Slam Dunk Festival and so many more. Tour Archive (offspring.com) While touring around the world, it has also helped the band become one of the bestselling punk rock bands worldwide by selling over 40 million records.

Things you probably didn’t know.

While they are a band, they are also so much more! Dexter has been the vocalist and guitarist for The Offspring since they had started the band. In between those times, he also opened a record label, Nitro Records and started his own company selling hot sauces, Gringo Bandito In 2017, Dexter received his PhD in Biology from the University of Southern California Dexter Holland, rock singer and scientist, joins the Keck School commencement speaker lineup - HSC News (usc.edu) along with being a licensed pilot. 


Kevin Wasserman received his nickname of Noodles by improvising in the studio, otherwise known as noodling. Noodles was also in a local band prior to being the lead guitarist in The Offspring, Clowns of Death was his first band. Prior to Come Out and Play becoming a big kit, Noodles was planning on quitting the band as he thought it would not come successful.
